Illness affecting examinations

Information for students who fall ill during the exam period

If you fall ill during or before your exams, you must see a doctor immediately. If they think you have been adversely affected, they will issue a medical certificate, which will be sent to your Senior Tutor or other officer who in turn will send the certificate to the Proctors.  The Proctors will then send this information and any additional submissions that your college may wish to make to the examiners if they see fit.  The examiners will then take your illness into consideration when assessing your degree class mark.

With cases of illness, it is important to move very quickly since there are deadlines for submitting notices to the board of examiners.  More information on this is available in the Examination Decrees and Regulations and from the Proctors and Assessors’ Memorandum, both of which should be available from your college.
