Residency Requirements

Information about the University's requirements for where you live during term-time

The university has strict residency requirements for all its students. These requirements apply to where you live during term-time and how long you stay there while studying. The requirements for residency differ for undergraduates, postgraduates, second BA students, part-time students and students who live with their parents while studying.

The Examination Regulations book outlines the requirements, and students should check this. Freshers who don't have this yet should contact their College Senior Tutor or Admissions Secretary for guidance. Students can appeal the residency requirements, if they can justify their appeal. Get in touch with your College Senior Tutor or OUSU's Student Advice Service for advice.

Some postgraduate students can apply for an exemption - details of this and the appropriate form can be found on the Graduate Studies Office website: Form GS0.8
