Failing Finals
Information for students who have failed their final exams
The regulations concerning passing and failing Finals are subject specific, so before sitting them, make sure you are aware of what is required. This information is available in the Examination Decrees and Regulations. If you have failed your finals (which is very rare indeed), you are allowed to retake, but you must do this within the number of terms specified for the completion of your degree course (consult your Senior Tutor or the Exam Regulations about this). Except for a small number of subjects detailed in the regulations, students who have been classified (achieved a 3rd, 2.2 etc) are not allowed to retake their Finals in order to improve their results.
If you have split finals across more than one year (as is the case with Physics and Engineering Sciences) and are awarded a pass in Part 1 finals there is a chance that you can retake, but you must consult your tutor or faculty about this.
