Divcom is the Committee of Divisional Board Representatives, the body overseeing OUSU's work to build up our Academic Representation across the University.

As students, we have good representation in Colleges through JCR and MCR Committees. As so much of our academic lives revolves around our Departments (particularly for Graduate students) we need to have good representation there too, in order to make sure Departments are responsive to our needs as students.

Right now, many Departments have good student representation, but many do not. Representatives within Departments are also not joined up formally with reps in related Departments, with their Divisional Board Reps, or with the rest of OUSU.

Divcom, working alongside the VP Acaff and VP Graduates, is aiming to change this.

Divisional Board Representatives represent students on the governing bodies of one of the University's four Academic Divisions:

Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences

Medical Sciences

Social Sciences

Humanities

Each Divisional Board has one Undergraduate and one Graduate Rep. Each Divisional Board Rep will be responsible for organising and supporting the Departmental and course Reps within their Division.

Divisional Board Reps for the 2011-2012 Academic Year will be elected in OUSU Council in 3rd Week Michaelmas Term.
