Getting started on Undergraduate Study Skills
'Study Skills' is an overarching umbrella name for all the skills that help you learn. These range from writing essays to taking notes, using a reading list to time management. In addition to these 'generic' skills, you should also be aware of how you can develop as a learner during your time as an Oxford undergraduate. Broadly speaking, this manner of 'learning development' refers to how you will transition from being an undergraduate studying (for example) history, to a developing historian. This development will involve an increasing level of confidence in your study over time as well as a willingness to take more risks in your study.
These skills take time, effort and practice to develop, but help aid how you learn and perform. These pages are meant to help you get started on your studies and begin preperations before arriving in Oxford. Do keep checking back, as more information will be added over time.
