Who we are, what we do, and how you can contact us

Maillist

We send out a weekly e-mail of (almost!) all things women related and feminist in Oxford.  E.g. how to volunteer for the women's open day, get involved in feminist publications, speakers, women's dj workshops, All Soul's Open Evenings etc.

Contact katharine.halls@wadham.ox.ac.uk if you would like to join the maillist. If you would like to advertise an event on the maillist, please send it to Katharine by Friday -inclusion is subject to discretion.

Termcard

WomCam's termcard and 'feminist calendar', including both WomCam
events and events of interest organised by other societies, can be found
in google calendar format at:
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=egtvlol2tptvp54bbtucuta7cg%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=Europe/London

Events will also be advertised on the weekly roundup, so keep your eyes peeled.

If you or your society have anything you'd like to advertise on our calendar or
in the weekly roundup, just email a CoChair and we'll do what we can.

FACEBOOK GROUPS

OUSU Women's Campaign FACEBOOK GROUP - CLICK HERE

The WomCam Facebook Group is two terms old and has over 170 members! We put pretty much all our events on the Facebook Group (and invite all the members that way). So it's a good way to keep in touch with what's going on.
Awareness raising - it's suprising the number of people who come to WomCam events who say that they found out about the event because it came up on their Facebook feed as something one of their friends was going to. So please help spread the word!

WOMEN’S CAMPAIGN

Women’s Campaign (affectionately known as WomCam) is a vibrant, strident discussion and action forum for all women in the University, both graduate and undergraduate. We meet once a week in a friendly and informal setting to share our experiences as women in Oxford and to work towards improving life for our female finest! Our focus also extends beyond the social, economic and academic circumstances of women in the University to encompass local, national and international causes. Typically, we prepare motions to bring to Common Rooms and advise Women’s Officers on how to meet the needs of the students they represent, as well as organising university-wide events from the serious to the frivolous! We address woman-centric issues from ‘raunch culture’ to sexual violence, body image to the Finals Gap, abortion rights to working women, to help achieve greater female representation, protection and freedom. Campaigns and events include the Reclaim the Night march, the Wear It Pink club night, V-Day, International Women’s Day, the Love Your Body! tea party, and much more!

Due to WomCam’s uniquely passionate but relaxed ethos, we welcome all women - regardless of social background, political stance or how much experience you’ve had celebrating and campaigning for women’s rights: the agenda is set by you for you.

MEETINGS

We meet on Mondays at 5.45pm in the OUSU Building (Thomas Hull House, opposite the Westgate shopping centre).  Come and be a part of this motivated, diverse, free-thinking, effective group of women - we get things done!

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any queries, problems or suggestions you have
