Central Husts for all positions will take place in 3rd week OUSU Council on Friday 3rd Week at 2.30pm in the Vernon Harcourt Room at St Hilda's College. It is open to all students (just like OUSU Council)- come and ask candidates about issues that matter to you.

From Tuesday-Thursday in 5th week all students will have a chance to vote in a by-election to fill the remaining positions on the Part Time Exec.

The OUSU Part Time Exec is made up of students who are involved in running in their student union  during their degree. Officers elected will hold their position until the end of MT09. Each officer has a specific portfolio.

 

Any student can run for the Part Time Exec - you don't need to have done anything like this or have been involved in OUSU before. If you have any questions at all about the positions or how to run, get in touch on ro@ousu.org.

 

The following positions are open. 

  • Black and Minority Ethnic Students' and Anti-Racism Officer
  • Students with Disabilities Officer
  • Mature Students Officer
  • LGBTQ Officer
  • Graduate International Officer (Only graduate may run and vote for this position)
 
Here is an account from a previous OUSU Women's Campaign Officer. Although it is for a different position, it will give you some idea what it is like to be on the part time exec.

How to Run:


Nominations close at midday on Thursday of 3rd week. If you want to run for a position, you must bring your nomination into OUSU before then. OUSU is at the back of Bonn Square, opposite the Westgate Centre. It is in the building next to the church. To get in press the buzzer marked 'OUSU reception' and go up the stairs.

To nominate yourself bring the following things in to OUSU:

1. A completed nomination form (click here  and print).

2. A deposit cheque for £25. This will be returned after the election if you are not fined for breaking any rules.

3. Proof of membership of OUSU (eg. Bod card)

4. A Manifesto, if wished. You must submit a paper copy and an electronic version (a pdf sent via email to ro@ousu.org). Your manifesto must be submitted in both formats by midday Thursday of 3rd week.

Things to remember when making manifestos:


a). The must be 174mm up by 137mm across. Ie. A quarter page of The Oxford Student.


b). If anyone else was actively involved in helping you make your manifesto, you must acknowledge this on your manifesto.

 

After nominations have closed the Returning Officer will be in touch to explain how the Election works.

Elections Hilary 2009

Central Husts for all positions will take place in 3rd week OUSU Council. Council has now been changed to 1.45 on Friday in the Oxford Union Chamber rather than Teddy Hall as previously advertised.
