1.    Bill of Students’ Rights

Postgraduate Assembly resolves:
1.    To mandate OUSU to create a bill of students' rights for graduate students, to be ratified by     OUSU and all colleges and faculties and to be nailed to the door of every MCR.
2.    That this bill should include the bare minimum that students can expect from college and faculty     such as: the right to accurately and plainly stated information that enables the student to     understand clearly course objectives, requirements, and grading policies - to be issued before the     start of the academic year; rent increases to be announced and explained in full before the start of     Trinity term of the previous year; moral tutors to meet their students at least once per term and     to reply to emails in a timely manner; students who are unable to study due to illness have the     right to extra time and leeway, effective immediately, based on severity of the symptoms and not     the illness diagnosed; the right to freedom from illegal search and seizure; students should have     clearly defined means to participate in the formation of University policy affecting academic and     student affairs; all other basic rights that students at other universities have and Oxford students     don't. No contractual arrangement with the University shall be interpreted as waiving these rights.'
Proposed: Paul Rollason (Queens)
Seconded: Rachael Attwood (Queens)

2.    Orientations

Postgraduate Assembly notes that:
1.    There is currently an orientation programme organised for new international students at the start of Michaelmas and Hilary terms.
2.    That these orientations are well-attended and provide a useful start for new students with information and a chance to meet other students.

Postgraduate Assembly believes that:
1.     Such orientations would be useful for other new students, including mature students, second BA students     and student parents.

Postgraduate Assembly resolves to:
1.     Mandate the relevant members of OUSU Exec and Campaigns to lobby the University to organise     orientations for mature students, second BA students and student parents.

Proposed: Ingrid Frater (OUSU VP Graduates)
Seconded: Hannah Roe (OUSU VP Women)
