Monday of Third Week saw the launch of Election 2007, as Oxford prepares to go to the polls on Thursday of 6th Week to elect new Student Union Officers.

All Oxford students - graduate or undergraduate - will be eligible to stand and vote in the elections with polling stations located in nearly every college accross the city.

OUSU President Martin McCluskey said: "We're looking forward to a really fun, vibrant set of elections with as many people as possible taking part. Last year we managed to get one of the highest undergraduate turnouts in the country for a Student Union election - let's try and beat that this year!"

Ingrid Frater, OUSU's Vice President (Graduates), stressed the importance of Graduate involvement in this year's elections: "When I stood in the election for this job, it was the highest turnout for years - just from graduate students. This year, the Student Union wants to reach out to graduate students and we hope that as many as possible will vote and run in the elections."
