'The Myth of Mars and Venus- Do men and women really speak different languages?'

A fascinating talk followed by drinks, a very small bookstore and a booksigning. Join us!

Deborah Cameron is Rupert Murdoch Professor of Language and Communication at the University of Oxford. She is an internationally-known researcher in the field of language and gender studies.

Speaking on the subject of her new book, Deborah Cameron will be considering popular assumptions about gender and communication and their unforeseen but far-reaching consequences. She draws on over 30 years of scientific research to explain what we really know and to demonstrate how this is often very different from the accounts we are familiar with from recent popular writing, arguing the urgent need to think about gender in a very different way.

8pm - The Auditorium, St Johns College

Thursday of 1st Week, 17th January
