What to bring with you to Oxford

Some packing hints....

Academic

    * Relevant old notes (burnt them at the end of school? Don't worry Oxford is full of books!)
    * Reading lists from your college
    * Calculator/ drawing equipment/ dictionary (if you need them)
    * Laptop or desktop (although colleges and libraries have some you can use,its easier to have an        essay crisis if you have one in your room)
    * Relvant academic books (and some novels -you're unlikely to read them but its nice to pretend        you will)
    * Summer work you've been assigned
    * Paper
    * Stationary

Bedroom

    * Extra pillow
    * Bed linen (depending on college)
    * Hangers
    * Posters, pictures and other decorations
    * Alarm clock!
    * Bedside/ reading lamp
    * Cds and cd player or ipod and speakers

Clothes

    * Usual day clothes
    * Pyjamas (or dressing gown if you don't wear them)
    * Warm coat
    * Umbrella or waterproof
    * Cocktail dresses, a ball gown (not too many - you'll want to buy more - its a city full of shops!)
    * A suit and a dinner jacket if you have one
    * Cap, gown and sub fusc (you can get your cap and gown when you get here)
    * Fancy dress (school tie for inevitable back to school bop)

Cleaning

    * Toiletires
    * Toothbrush
    * Washing up liquid
    * Dishcloths
    * Washing powder
    * Stain remover
    * Spongers/scourers

Eating

    * Tea, coffee and sugar (even if you don't drink it - its a goodway to meet the people youre                living with)
    * Mugs
    * Plates and bowls (enough to feed someone else but not so many you never wash up)
    * Cutlery
    * Sharp knife
    * Tin opener
    * Kettle (necessity for friend making through tea)
    * Toaster (rules differ per college - best to put it in a kitchen)
    * Pans (of you have access to a kitchen)
    * Corkskrew and bottle opener

Important stuff

    * Passport
    * Medical details
    * Passport photos
    * LEA information (very important)
    * Chequebook
    * Bank cards
    * A diary
    * Calendar
    * Phone and charger

Other stuff

    * Bike, helmet, lights and lock
    * Medicines -(bring painkillers and in freshers week you'll be everybody's favourite)
    * Sport equipment
    * Camera
    * Mp3 or CD player
    * Sleeping bag
    * Plants for your room
    * Small first aid kit
    * Small sewing kits
    * Contraception
    * OUSU and college fresher's guide
